In the final five or six years prior to the final run of the old C&NW passenger train 209-214 The Peninsula 400 between Green Bay and Ispheming on July 15, 1969, the C&NW Ispheming depot was located at the southwest corner of US 41/M-28 and Lakeshore Road at the east end of the C&NW yard. The old C&NW trackage through downtown Ispheming where the old C&NW passenger depot was located was abandoned in 1961 or 1962. C&NW RR operating crews handled that passenger train, were based out of Escanaba, MI and worked Escanaba to Green Bay where they layover until that same evening and then worked Green Bay to Ispheming where they lay over for about a hour and fifteen minutes in the early morning and then worked Ispheming to Escanaba where they end their tour of duty.
