No the U30's are still in service. We have 4 still going, 2 available for working, and 2 always in the shop or just out. They are used mostly out of Eagle mills when not enough AC44's are available. We did get an engine to try out. So far it has been a total flop. From what I understand, the company rep that sent it totally miss represented it. The bad thing about the LS&I is that the guys who go out shopping for new power are not engineers. They have no idea what they are looking at and won't come to us for advice. It was pure dumb luck that we ended up with the AC44's and strictly speaking, except for running the hill, they are not really suited for most of the work we do. We just find ways to make them work. Word it the U30's are going soon due to EPA issues.
