This would enable LS&I to avoid going slow over the scales on the empty return trip to the mines. This is the unused former DSS&A/Soo/WC track that parallels LS&I just west of LS&I's viaduct over US41 (near "Kalkaska Dr."), proceeding west across M-35 and Mass St. near the old redi-mix plant (west of Pump House Rd.), and re-joining the LS&I just south of the Negaunee wastewater treatment plant (near Riihinen Rd.).
