Every WC employee was encouraged and trained to sell. They picked up a lot of new business this way. Train crews would see a spur, find out who it went to, and call on them for their business.
They provided good service. Ran trains every day (rather than once a week), switched custmers when they wanted switching (not when it was convenient for them), etc.
Unfortuantley, Ed was not able to work his magic at MM&A. In fact they just abandoned a long northern segment (which fortunately was picked up by another short line).
