I believe paint ore was the main traffic of the Wisconsin & Michigan (WIMI), which in late 1991 leased the WC (Soo) trackage between Mellen, WI and Bessemer, MI. Operations began in June, 1992. They also operated excursion trains. Perhaps their freight traffic dried up, or they started the railroad in anticipation of additional freight traffic that never materialized. Revenues in 1994, for example, were only $37,155, whereas expenses were $486,500. The WIMI folded in May, 1995.
