Re: Mineral Range to re-lay track to Humboldt mill
I'm no lawyer, but the wording of the filing makes it sound like Mineral Range will acquire (purchase) the existing LS&I track from Ishpeming west to Humboldt, not just obtain trackage rights. CN will retain its trackage rights over this section (at least as far west as Humboldt Jct., north of US-41). My guess is that Mineral Range will operate between the Humboldt mill and Ishpeming, where the loads will interchange with CN, bypassing any LS&I activity. CN will then deliver to Sault Canada by way of Gladstone, MI. The loads will then go over the Huron Central Railway (Genesee & Wyoming) to Sudbury.
