Re: Kinross Plant funding secured
Wall St. Journal had an editorial yesterday about cellulose based ethanol. Basically, no cost effective way has been discovered to produce ethanol from wood/straw/corn stalks/switch grass. Petroleum companies are supposed to blend X-gallons per year of the product into gasoline (which doesn't exist in the required quantities) and pay a Federal penalty instead (aka a tax) because they don't buy a product that doesn't exist. The tax is passed down to those of us who buy gasoline. Please don't consider this a rant, more a comment on the current state of the art. I was an investor in an ethanol plant that was stillborn. It was a reminder that getting older is mandatory, getting wiser is optional.
