Those big 2-8-0's (Baldwins?) were equipped with superheaters, thermic syhons, Worthington feedwater heater/pumps, tender boosters and mechanical stokers.
I don't know how long they worked on the LS&I, but back in the M&HM days, one of them was 'stored' in the bone yard along with the more 'conventional' 2-8-0's. It was easy to compare how much bigger the boilers were when they were all lined up like that. They must have pulled like hell.
