Here's a little more info on the Milwaukee Road use of big steam in Upper Michigan. Locomotive No.9506 was one of four 2-6-6-2's that was used to haul ore trains on the Milwaukee Road between Channing and Crystal Falls and between Channing and Bates Junction. These units began operating in April 1919. I'm unsure of how long they operated on that line.
