Being from Iron Mountain, I would say Marquette or Escanaba would be your best bet, you can get some good pix of the LS&I and the CN from the mines around Palmer and Ishpeming, also the docks at Marquette and Escanaba seem to always have something going on. If you are going to be driving on M-95 between Iron Mountain and Us 41 by Marquette I would also check out Changing, there is a E&LS yard there as well as in Wells by Escanaba. MAKE SURE YOU STAY ON PUBLIC GROUNDS IF YOU GO BY THE E&LS, they are not rail fan friendly. Hope you have a fun trip and don’t eat to many pasties.
