Sidnaw west to Bergland is abandoned and the rails are pulled most of the way. Back in the 90's the used ties were trucked to Dollar Bay with plans to ship them to Europe. Then they were somehow called "hazardous" or something like that so shipment was refused and they were trucked back out. Many went to the Houghton sands where they were sold to individuals. I don't know where the rest went.
Sidnaw east to Nestoria is owned by the E&LS but used mostly for car storage. E&LS bought that line with hopes to operate over WC to Baraga, then north into Houghton. That never happened. I was on the committee to restore rail operations into Houghton County. It was a long, sad story.
