Don: These cars are stored at Nestoria to be used in the winter for extra braking going down the L'Anse hill. They have cast iron shoes which are superior to composition shoes in the snow. I know from experience that composition shoes never seem to warm up in deep snow. They have a tendency to ice up and then they are useless. Greg
