A new bike trail about 3/4 mile long starts at the north side of the contact station at Van Riper State Park at mp187 on the Baraga sub. The trail is paved with an authentic grade crossing at the tracks, complete with "rr xing" painted on the asphalt and approx. 1/2 scale crossbucks.
After crossing U.S.41/M28, the trail turns east and goes to the hwy grade crossing by Champion.
On the hill the trail traverses ,are good photo spots of the tracks by the state park and cemetery.
