Dear Greg and others that might be reading this thread,
I would not have believed that I saw the 101 either if I had not been there. At first, I thought it was a Great Northern unit. There was a row of boxcars between us and it, so no photo possibilities. The only other two times I did a double-take of that magnitude was when I caught the Alco S-2 at the Wausau papermill a few years ago, and another time that I saw a Central Montana Rail GP-9 in Montana painted in GN Big Sky Blue.
When we saw the 101, it had a high headlight, no "lightning stripe", no short hood, and we could barely make out the number, so we looked it up in a diesel roster book when we got home.

PS The last photo I can find of the 101 alive was from 1997, in Menominee.
