Reading he book "Deep Woods Frontier" by Theodore J. Karamanski I ran across this quote:
"The Nahma and Northern Railroad operated at capacity most of the war years. Fifteen-hour days were the rule for the railroaders. When the war ended however, even the Bay DE Noquet Company began to purchase logging trucks. In 1947 the last haul was made on the logging line. Within year even the track north of Nahma Junction was removed and the old right-of-way began to return to the forest." (p. 242)
I always suspected that the line between Nahma and the junction stayed in operation longer in order to ship finished lumber out, but now I have a reason the know that.
