Normal operations was a five day a week turn from Channing. Often the train died on hours and another crew would have to dog catch the train somewhere west of Channing and bring it in.
This was reduced to four days per week when Smurfit refused to pay a fuel surcharge last year.
We'll see what service is like when they open again.
Smurfit leases one of the E&LS Baldwins for interplant switching. The E&LS road train from Channing exchanges cars, rarely will switch some cars insdie the plant, and head back to Channing.
