Hi All,
I've had some free time over the holidays and have been searching the DOT Accident investigations online. There I found the investigation for the runaway of a southound DSS&A freight train (and pusher engine!) that got away from the crew and ran down the hill at speeds approaching 70 MPH. It derailed and crashed on the curve 1,784 ft south of the L'Anse depot.
I'm unable to directly post the hyperlink as the DOT is using some type of a search engine to retrieve the files. The file itself is 13 pages long so I'll post in a couple of sections.
Moderator, if this is a problem, please let me know.
Thanks,
Rich P
p.s.Here's the link to the DOT search website if you are intersted in wreck history. There are four other Upper Penninsula investigations there.

Just enter "MI" as a location and hit search.
