A few notes from the south end of the ELS. Over the last couple of weeks it has pretty much been the SD40-2's on the Crivitz-Green Bay trains. Only exception has been the lash-up of the GP38's a couple of times. Last weekend the Friday southbound only made it to Abrams. Power was the 500 and he had 49 cars, almost all loads. Train came into Green Bay Saturday just before noon. The crew did not tie up because Oconto Falls needed a switch. They ran up there and came back with five cars.
During the week they deviated from their regular schedule a bit. Generally they go to work in Green Bay at 0700. Tuesday they started at 0600. Also, they generally do not work out of GB on Wednesdays. This week they did. Not sure what that was about. Friday they went to work late, not sure what time time but the power was still tied up in GB at 0805 when I was headed to work.
The Friday southbound into Green Bay didn't make it in. They showed up in Green Bay a little before noon on Saturday with the 500 leading 27 cars, five from Oconto Falls. Crew wasn't finished as the CN had 76 covered hoppers (HS reporting marks) for the ELS that had to be pulled. So, the crew dragged them out to Lineville Road and left them on the old main. That makes about 100 cars for storage sitting on the old MILW main to head north at some point in time.
