The CNW line from Cascade threw Palmer and to what is now the Tilden was removed for the building of the Tilden along with the re-route of M-35 to its current site. LS&I got parts of the right-of-way. CNW served a pit on the back side of the Tilden when first built, but LS&I got the only rights into the Tilden and CNW tracks where pulled or buried who knows. At the same time Cliff's let the CNW come into the Empire to haul ore to Escanaba dock, and later the all- rail for Algoma, and 1/2 of that is from the Tilden- from the Weigher job. Looking at old track layouts of the Empire there was a cool balloon track that tie in to the CNW track at one time, and hard to see in this day, most was taken out about 10-11 years ago when the Super pocket was built and the tracks where re-done.
