Hello,
History seems to happen at the blink of an eye. It was 16 years ago this week that the Soo Line Historical & TEchnical Society operated round-trip passenger trains out of Marquette to Baraga on a Saturday the 21st and to Newberry on Sunday the 22nd. I helped orgazine the train rides and was a car host on the train. I met a few DSS&A retirees helping organize these trains. Even some of the tracks we operated on are now gone. We organized a photo runby on Friday for the Marquette TV station in the DSS&A lower yard. Today, many people would not even know there were train tracks there. Rolling over the high fill between Ishpening and Diamond Jct. and then meeting an uphill LS&I train as we were going downhill just east of the LS&I weight scale is etched in my mind!
Sincerely,
Andy Roth
