I discovered the roundhouse while wondering around there one Saturday afternoon during my Tech years in the mid '70s. The side door was open, so I went inside. Everything was still pretty much as it was on the last day of work in 1945. The calendar was on the wall and tools were laying around waiting for someone to pick them up. On the pilot beam of one of the locomotives, a wrench had been laid down, waiting for the mechanic to return the next day, which never happened. The head was still intact and solid, but the handle had rusted away leaving a trail of rust dust along the pilot beam. One section of the roof had caved in over one of the locomotive tenders, and a tree was growing out of the coal pile in the tender. The normal stuff was missing, bell, gauges, etc., but the humanity remained. I came back on another day and tried to take some photos. It was pretty dark inside, but I do still have the slides.
