Well, approaching three months now, I've got a little better understanding about the Lake State RR operations now around Flint. Things seem to have settled into a sort of schedule. Saginaw to Flint and return trains operate as #126...Most days, the southbound to Flint comes in in the afternoon, usually between 2 and 5 p.m. The return train goes back to Saginaw usually after 6 p.m., but can be as late as 10 or 11 p.m. The Flint to Novi/Plymouth and return trains operate as #127. I haven't heard the "L" designation being used anymore on either the #126-#127 trains. Southbound to Plymouth trains leave Flint in the early to mid afternoon, and usually doesn't return to Flint until the next morning between 10 a.m. and noon. The extra grain movements and coal movements can happen at just about any time. Some grain trains still carry CSX power all the way to Saginaw. As for the yard work, Flint McGrew uses #Y-101 as their primary switching and blocking symbol, and is usually busy from 8 a.m. continuing thru until around 11 p.m. All local switching is done during daylight hours for now, and that train goes as #Y-110. This includes the exchange train to CN Torry yard. CSX Port Huron trains (#D-711)continue to operate from Flint, usually leaving Flint around 12 noon, but has been running later some days. Most days, they return early evening, but has laid over in P. Huron on occasion to return the next a.m. Flint McGrew is a much busier place now than in the waning days of CSX. Also, it is good to see on occasion, as many as 5 or 6 separate LSRR loco's working around the yard, when inbound and outbound trains have entered around the same times. I've seen as many as 4 LSRR loco's of various axle arrangements working together, and it is quite the sight to encounter. I think LSRR is serious about making itself a great success and having this new trackage makes it an interesting railroad to follow. One more little tidbit....MY Trusty little Kodak easyshare 813 finally died, so, I'm going searching in a couple of weeks for a good Point and shoot replacement...Looks like Sony has a pretty good one for 119.00 that will do more for me than the ol' Kodak. Expect to see some better pictures from me come middle of August. Photo shooting in general is not on my agenda, so an expensive camera for me seems redundant. My ol' 813 was bought like in 2007 or 2008, and after a few thousand pictures I think I got my 79 bucks worth out of it.
