It's too bad Michigan doesn't have an intermodal yard to serve the area outside of Detroit. I know we've lost a lot of the industrial base in this state, but you would think there would be enough of an industrial base left to support an IM yard in the Lansing or Grand Rapids area.
IIRC the company that took over the P&G Cheboygan plant uses IM, just not direct rail service. I'm sure plenty of other companies do as well. I don't know if enough do to support the service through.
