O.K., a few of my friends who live elsewhere in the state have asked me about GM's new plant now under construction in Burton, which is just outside the east border with Flint. Here's what I can tell you. TV 12 showed an artist sketch of the new building, which will be aprox. 1.1 million square feet, situated on 141 acres. This facility will be a parts distribution center, and will have several truck wells within it's confide. While this plant will border the CN trackage on the south side, there appears to be no consideration for a rail access to this new building at this time. This plant is actually being built by another company, North Point Development Co, and will be leased from them by GM for an initial term of 12 years. So, the best of my knowledge right now, this plant will not have any rail service. If anything changes, I'll post.
