Ah well Dick, shows you how much I remember from back then. Hired out in 1970. Depending on which old head you were working with at the time determined on what each crossing was called. Although I distinctly remember hearing the word "Rex", I don't remember hearing it that often. Now one place that stuck in my mind was the crossover (facing) from #1 main to #2 main just east of where the yard lead came out onto #2 main. The lead I think was referred to as the "Hawthorn Lead" and the crossovers as the "Hawthorn Crossover", later shortened to just "Thorn" in the timetable. Hated that place, I almost always overshot or stopped way short of it coming west.
