Re: Local Customers between Plymouth & Flint
It's not so much the "Local customers" that would make or break this. LSRR carries a lot of grain into Flint, where, CSX takes it south, and returns empties to LSRR at Flint. Also, LSRR has plenty of loads and empties coming into and out of Flint daily, including Sunday. Lately, they've run 2 general merchandise trains into Flint daily, except Sunday. They have to switch cars out at McGrew, pick up, and return north. Carrying their consists to Plymouth wouldn't take any longer than the switching time average of 2 hours, shuffling back and forth at Flint McGrew. On line customers Flint south are very few. Stoneco gets cars at the south end of McGrew, the plastic plant at Longway gets plastic pellets, there are two customers at the Maple Road yard, nothing at Grand Blanc any more, and the place mentioned above at Holly gets some movements. CSX does the local switching every other night with the L-737 out of Plymouth. They bring in loads and empties for the few customers, do the switching, take return cars into McGrew, and return back to Plymouth lite engines. The cars brought in are sorted, and return south on the next day's #736 to Detroit. Hey, I said that everyone who wanted to could voice their opinions. I was interested in what others speculate. No harm, no foul. It's great to see more than one scenario playing out here. Best thing for sure is, what happens will more than likely be done sometime in the upcoming months. It should get interesting at any rate.
