Re: Speculating CSX Trackage Sales

Gird your loins for some surprises. If LSRC is forced to buy or lease the trackage to Plymouth just to get their trains out of Michigan - they're in trouble. And secondly, we have absolutely no clue as to whether CSX will even retain trackage in Michigan to Plymouth. That's purely speculation at this point. What's your plan for LSRC if that is the case? Fact is, they are at the mercy of both CN and CSX, and it will be those two roads that make the calls however this plays out - not the short line. STB may have a say as to how the LSRC map is changed, but the economics of them going south to Plymouth don't seem to be there.
Does the cost of buying/leasing/operating and maintaining the line from Flint to Plymouth balance in any way with the profits they would receive? For all intent and purposes, it would essentially be little more than a bridge line with precious little online business. You know more than I how much business they send south, so perhaps they would bite. But, at the end of the day, no matter how the map is restructured, it's all about profit and losses, and assets and liabilities. I don't think too many on this board are privy to that information, so it all remains speculation. I reiterate however, gird your loins for some surprises...
