GTW must have purchased the short portion from Saginaw to Paines from PC before Conrail days, because, my 1982 GTW operating timetables/rules list the Paines sub as GTW owed from junction with Saginaw sub westward to MP: 6.3 Panes. Here is the Paines subdivison rule modifications as indicated in the above mentioned timetables. Rule modifications Panes subdivision footnotes...1.1-SAGINAW: Trains do not require clearance, but must have permission from Train Dispatcher Pontiac Yard to enter Paines Subdivison. Panes: C&O Trains do not require clearance, but must obtain permission from GTW train dispatcher Pontiac Yard to proceed east of Superior Street mileage 3.3. 1.2-Train Register Modifications...trains on joint main track are not required to register. Main track begines at mileage 0.4 Saginaw sub. 1.3-Special Instructions Apply GT 1.32 over entire sub. 2 General Footnotes...2.1 Joint Main Track-Saginaw to Paines joint with C&O, GTW timetable and rules govern. 2.2-Saginaw-junction of Saginaw and Paines sub, normal position of switch is for Saginaw sub. 2.3-Fordney-C&O trains and engines will obtain permission from Train Dispatcher Pontiac Yard before entering and will report clear of Paines Subdivision at Fordney mileage 3.2, and Saginaw mileage 0.0. 3-Non Interlocked 3.1-Railroad Crossing at Grade-C&O Junction mileage 6.3 Normal position of switch for C&O. Public Crossing at Grade-4.1 Paines-All movements on the former PC trackage presently not being used, between mileage J95.6 and end of aqusition, mileage J-91.8 must STOP and crossing protected by a member of the crew, warning traffic in advance of the movement at south River Road mileage J95.0 and Swan Creek Road mileage J92.6. 4.2-Switch Key or Pull Bottom control instruction-Special Instruction GT 7.1 applies. So, with this information, when GTW sold the Saginaw/Bay City/Midland trackage to Central Michigan RR in 1987, this little short piece of railroad became CM ownership, until HESR took over for them. When did it become ownership of LSRR?
