CTC was cutover today (10/20/17) from CN "North Haven" to CN "Ash" in Port Huron. This effectively completes the entire 45 miles of single track CTC signaling between Nolan and Tappan. Work now moves south to the double track segment between Milwaukee Juction and Nolan, and this should be completed in the not too distant future. CN "Haven" received a massive upgrading with new signals, bigger switch heaters and all of the concomitant PTC/CTC hardware and equipment.
Lots of export grain from IORY now moving to Port of Montreal in huge blocks of 40-50 hoppers on M382 and M384. Also, seasonal steam coal has also been relatively heavy lately with large blocks of loaded CSX hoppers from the New River/Winding Gulf fields headed to Montreal, and other Canadians points. Export marine containers are also picking up, as is usually the case this time of year. CN domestics remain stable NB, lighter SB.
Seasonal salt unloading has also begun at the Chesterfield Industrial Spur, giving L524 a bit more work to do. They need it.
