No rules regarding frequency, but we usually went about once a year. The chief dispatcher arranged it, normally for a week and we were on our own to decide what trains we wanted to ride. I went on the hi-rail with the track inspector a few times. The guy out of Saginaw went as far as Clyde, but I also hi-railed down to Toledo. Made several trips on trains to PH, Bad Axe, Ludington and over the Elmdale Sub to GR. Never actually rode BX to Croswell. I regret that now! Having worked as an operator all over, and as a railfan growing up, I'd seen most of the railroad anyway.
