Originally, Saginaw to Alexis (Toledo) was called the Toledo Subdivision. At that time, there were two main divisions of the C&O Northern Region -- the Saginaw Divn and the Grand Rapids Divn. In 1969, a 3rd Divn was added which covered from Alexis to Wixom and from Beck Road Plymouth to Detroit. This territory was called the Detroit Division. At that time, the portion from Saginaw to Wixom was renamed the Wixom Sub, and Wixom to Alexis was the Toledo Sub. Around 1977, they consolidated to one division called the Michigan Divn -- but all the Subs stayed the same. When CSX printed their first timetable in 1987 they changed the Michigan Divn to the Detroit Divn and renamed Saginaw to Alexis the Saginaw Sub. (On the west side, they also changed GR to Porter from the Chicago Sub to the Grand Rapids Sub.) So, to answer your question, 1987!
