CTC - GTW MTC Sub Update

Well ,the march of progress continues at a rapid rate along the Mt. Clemens Subdivision with all signals between Nolan and North Clemens now installed. All signals, including the pot/dwarfs governing the new contolled siding are in place. CN will continue their northward signal work this week. Meanwhile, crews are progressing southward from Smiths Creek toward North Haven. I was expecting to see single headed intermediates between Nolan and Mt. Clemens, however a CN signalman told me that the 3 signals between those points will all be dispatcher contolled "hold-out" signals, requiring two heads. Maybe someone can explain better how these will work. Anyway, erecting the masts seems to be the easy part. Now, installing necessary bungalows, etc, and wiring them up for service will require some time.
I was told that once most of this is complete, that work upgrading the 10,000' siding in New Haven will begin. For signal enthusiasts, I wouldn't waste too much time getting pictures of the GRS Tri-lights at Haven as they will fall soon, replaced by the SafeTrans Darth Vaders. Incidentally, the installation of the GRS signals at Haven in November, 1998, were the last use of this type of light for a major project on the GTW. Not quite 20 years of service. Within the last several weeks, the formerly uncluttered view up and down the tracks at Mt. Clemens depot has become quite cluttered. Progress. More to follow...
