What luck. I saw the Grand Elk two days in a row as it returned from Elkhart. Today I was in the Meijers on Shaver Road about 12:15 p.m. and just happened to be by a window as it whistled for a nearby crossing. I was further away so I didn't get the engine numbers but it seemed to be the same combination as yesterday:
SD40-2
GP40-2W
72 cars, the longest GDLK I've seen.
Cars 20-56 and 60-72 were covered hoppers. They were old one, many were lettered "Southern" and one even had "Norfolk & Western" spelled out. Those are really old. I imagine they will end up in White Pigeon for grain loading.
