If you really want to see the Wilder Rd. yard in Bay City, the road that crosses at the south end has incredibly wide shoulders. You can park on the side of the road just before the crossing and walk up to the crossing to shoot a picture or two from. However, as Jim and Patrick said, there really isn't all that much traffic in that particular yard. They do spend some time switching the HESR yard on the other side of town, off Wenona Road. There are a couple places you can park at either end of that yard to watch them switch as well.
