Don, as far as the old Chesterfield trim plant (MA#2)goes, I have no idea what the capacity is. I'm uncertain as to whether the tracks were simply rebuilt and upgraded, or if they did some re-configuring as far as the internal layout. I'll see what I can find out.
The old Ford vinyl facility (MA#1) gets switched at least once a day (wee hours) and sometimes twice. They will bring in on average 8-10 a day (down from the initial 15-30) and can squeeze all of them into the building, so I'd guess full capacity is about 15 50' boxes. Problem at #1 is that the place is stacked to the rafters with ingots, and there are more coming in than going out at present - thus the reduced carloads daily for now.
Not sure whats happening at Great Lakes either, although my curiosity has been increased with regard to them. Track was rebuilt and a new heavy duty 136 lb switch (mandatory on the MTC sub now) was installed and the rails are shiny - so something is moving in and out - more investigation needed!
Forgot to mention that MA #1 and #2 are generally switched by 504 and 524 out of PH, while MA#3 (old Weyerhauser) will be switched by 104 (old East Line Assignment) out of East yard, when the plant comes online. As I'm writing this the CN Track Evaluation RDC has just rolled south through Mt. Clemens.
The Holly sub used to be the envy of us east side guys years ago when 2 or 3 trains a day ran on the MTC. Now I feel sorry for those guys - missing all the action over here! LOL.
I'll try to find out more about MA#2 capacity and Great Lakes, Don.
Regards,
