Great report, Nathan. Yes, Kalamazoo has changed a little but all the main railroad infrstructure is still in place. The one customer north of Mosel is the Georgia-Pacific Epic plant. Graphics Packaging is doing very well but alas, Checker is indeed just a memory.
I heard second-hand from a CN employee that they will only switch Cytec 3 times a week. I'm guessing if Cytec needs a switch on a day that CN isn't in town they pick up the phone and call Grand Elk.
Pfizer is the only other place in town with a wye and equipment could be turned there in a pinch. Coal comes into town in sets of 20-25 cars for Pfizer and the Pfizer switcher is busy every single day.
I always smile when I go by the building on the NE corner of Pitcher and Water. You can still see the rails in the ground that caused the architect to build a large enough gap in the corner of the building so box cars could be pushed through it.
