Nearly the same thing happened in St. Clair county... they replaced the crossing, mad bad worse then left it while MDOT and CN argued who would do it over. Meanwhile lots of autos (including my wife's) were damaged. They finally replaced it again and it was done right the second time around. It has been fine since then.
Like Dad used to say... "Do it right the first time and you won't have to do it again!"
