Further to Dave's post below, CN trains M386 and M387 have been re-instated after having been annulled during the 2nd week of December, 2008. M387 has been running for a few days now, and M386 resumed life last night. These London/Flat Rock/London trains now pick up the slack in moderate tonnage increases on M382-383-384-385, and help to alleviate some logistical stickiness in London with regard to time consuming pick ups/set offs by the aforementioned trains. It seems they are running (as formerly) with Canadian crews.
Train counts have been fairly steady over the last 15 years on the MTC Sub as opposed to other former GTW lines in the state. A 10 year comparison to date shows the following trains:
1999 Daily trains - 382, 383, 384, 385, 386, 387, 388, 142, 143, 715, 716, 505E, 505W.
2009 Daily trains - 382, 383, 384, 385, 386, 387, 144, 145, 104N, 104S, 524S, 524N.

The 15 year CWR project is now complete, with the Northbound Service Track now finished. Spot tamping and surfacing work along the entire line is ongoing. Trackwork at the Chesterfield Aluminum facility appears to be complete in preparation for their coming online later in the year.
Both locals (524 and 104) have been working their way out to Mt. Clemens in the early morning hours lately - with 104 having good sized trains - aluminum, aggregates, lumber and paper products for customers on the south end. 524 brings down aluminum, plastic pellets and occasional drywall loads on the north end.
With a slight increase in traffic, Woodcrest has been firing up some sleeping dinosaurs and SD40-2's, more SD60F's, and more geeps (both 38's and 40's) than I've seen in years are beginning to show up mixed with the newer power. FRA says rail traffic is still lagging, but CN seems to think (at least around here) that more trains and power are necessary at this point. So be it.
