New for 2008 "The Skye Whitman Memorial"
$1500.00 donated by this memorial will be for weanlings owned,bred and sired by a stallion standing in Ontario in 2007.
You must enter our O.P.H.C. futurity,to be entered in the Skye Whitman Memorial.
All the rules are the same as our futurity, except they must be owned,bred and sired in Ontario.
Skye Whitman was a very wonderful young lady.Who tragically lost her life just before her 19th birthday.Travelling to work in the early morning after a night of torrential rain,she was unaware the culvert had washed out underneath the road.When she drove over the spot where the culvert used to be , the road collapsed.She suffered internal injuries; she was taken off life support ending her life before her time.
This generous $1500.00 donation in Skyes memory from Craig A. Fielding in agreement with Mannon Whitman and myself is to honor a very wonderful young lady who was quite fond of paint horses, especially the babies.In her memory Mr.Fielding has donated this money to remember Skye Whitman and to symbolize her rebirth every year with the new foal crop.
We would like to have all the ontario owned,bred and sired foals eligible for the added money, thus promoting the paint horse breeding program in Ontario.This memorial is to help encourage local breeders and owners to bring out their babies into the show ring.This would make Skye very happy to know that fellow Paint lovers are showing their babies for everyone to see.
