I used to "work" at NSH wen i was young, I was stationed at D building on ward 1 first floor.
I have 4 distinct memories of it....
1. there was a guy named john who used to get down on his hands and knees and would bang his forehead on the floor till it bled profusely and if you walked by him he would try to grab you and clamp on. he was scary.
2. i remember a woman but i don't remember her name but she would repeatedly slit her wrists and had to be restrained all the time in a chair with arm ties.
3. there was this girl there that was the same age as i was and she kept trying to kill herself and she had to be on 24/7 watch and i spent a few of those watches on my shift, and i always wondered about her because somehow she touched me-because she was my age at the time. she finally succesfully did herself in with a bed sheet and hung herself in the bathroom.(really sad)
4. there was another girl there who's name was also laurie and she liked me becuse we shared names and she would come and talk to me and visit a little every time i was there. wonder what ever happened to her?
i think i have a few others i remember to debbie who wanted her jeans' a guy that would fecal his bed all the time. but can't list them all, I think tearing down the hospital is a travesty and it should have been used to make a museum dedicated to those who lived and died there or something similar, are we just supposed to forget?
best wishes to the cemetary research committee,
hope you find what you're lookin for.
