With trying to decide on which pet would be the best fit for my fyself and family,I have researched a great deal. I narrowed it down to the bearded dragon vs. the water dragon but ultimately choose the beardie! I bought two (from different pet stores so if they were to breed...). This past Friday evening, April 1st, I bought my female who is about 4 inches head to base of tail (not including the tail). She is beautiful-very colorful!!! I have a 40 gal with the vitalight and the basking light and the screen top. Inside has the wood and stones. Under the tank is a heat tape.
I am very concerned and need a true expert to help me! I have been watching her and she really dose not move very much. At first I thought she was jus quiet but the more I watch the more concerned I become. It seams that she has minimal movement - locomotion in her back legs. Slight movements like if you would tickle her toes. When she tries to crawl up further on the rock or wood (that I place her on) she only uses her front legs and will put her chin down to help move....dose not get too far unless I help her. I have been trying to give her water with some calcium powder (small amounts from a dropper). She will drink but it looks like she gulps like she has a sore throat. There is no drainage from her nose, eyes or mouth.. She is alert but very tired. A friend said it may be "Spastic Hindleg Extension - partial paralysis".
The pet store where I purchased her is a privately owned store, YourPets in Uniontown, PA. Judy is one of the owners and she takes good care of the pets from what I see. I do not know what type of bulbs she uses thus rises the question calcium and vit D defic???
Please email asap with any suggestions. I spoke with my Vet tonight and am going to take her there tomorrow.
Thanks,
Lori
