...and yesterday was a prime example...

Hola all you expatriate patriots,
There are certain things in life, when you get up in the morning, that you expect to work like the refrigerator or the vacuum cleaner or the Whirlpool...You also take for granted that the car will start...Two years ago I purchased a rebuilt battey for 450 peso and I'm sorry to say that it passed away yesterday morning when I went out to get goin' intent on making an early showing...The warranty was up after two years of course...I used to sell Delco batteries and Goodyear tires so I know all there is to know about warranty adjustments...Now a 94 Mustang has a little different configuration that makes it's battery a little harder to find as the positive and negative posts are reversed compared with most that you'll find at places like Walmart...When I am met with an uninvited road-block, I need a little time to chew on it so that I don't so something compulsive and therefore costlier than it need be...I got out of the ole pony and walked over to Vip's and decided that this time I would walk to a battery place and then take a cab back with the battery but, before I did this, I should go on over to Ley's and see what they might have in stock...Ley's here is right across the street from Walmart and Vip's...Because Ley's has been hit hard by the arrival of Walmart and Sorianna, I didn't really expect to find a battery that would work there and I'd already checked over at Walmart where they had the right size but wrong post setup...Low and behold, Ley's had two 94 Mustang batteries in stock and they are having a 20% sales as well...Will wonders never cease...These were 48 month warranty batteries and were brand new...I jumped on this and made the purchase and decided that I would carry it back to Casa Anderson...Man, those batteries are heavier than when I was a strappin' laddie...Anyway, I installed the new one and was a little concerned when I put the battery clamp over the positive post and the battery didn't chirp...This darned battery had been sittin' too long at Ley's and was as dead as a doorknob or doornail...&^%^%$%$...Now do I take it back or just carry it over to a place and get it charged for 30 pesos, providing it passes the cell test...I had saved well over 200 pesos so cooler heads prevailed and I carried my two-ton battery over to a charging place five blocks away and had them check it out and was given a two hour charge for the afore mentioned 30 pesos...Finally, after going down and carrying the newly charged battery back to the casa, Alice and I were able to leave for comida at Chili's at around 2:00pm...A long and winding road indeed... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COMsKPeWAsw ...Dull moments??? Not in Tepiclandia!!!
Anyway, our comida at Chili's was well worth the wait even if I was a little tired after lugging car batteries around all morning...I put the old one (the battery) outside alongside the basura bag and, sure enough, a fellow picked it up and took it away soon after...Good luck guy!!! Meanwhile, back at Chili's, Alice had the 'Guiltless Chicken Platter' ( http://www.chilis.com/menu/default.asp?catID=7&tierID=161%20&menuType=Dine%20In ) whilst I had the 'Big Mouth Old Timer Hamburger'( http://www.chilis.com/menu/default.asp?catID=16&tierID=161%20&menuType=Dine%20In )...Bottomless beverages ( http://www.chilis.com/menu/default.asp?catID=17&tierID=161%20&menuType=Dine%20In ) filled this bill to a tee...We then did our usual mall crawl...A fun time was had by all...
I now am going out back to hang up a small wash and then I will be going over to Vip's for some coffee...Maybe you'll join in??? Hope so!!! Have a good one!!! Oh, I am lookin' pretty good today so you won't be embarrased if you do decide to drop by...JaJaHaHa...Just look for the guy with the white Pebble Beach golf hat...Hey, darn it, Alice beat me to the wash and has it all hung out there lookin' for that lucky old sun...Ya gotta be fast around here or you'll lose your job...
Adios and cheerio,
Cliffardo
