We too had a great time at La Loma catching up on the last few years! I can't imagine a nicer breakfast location to enjoy our visit than La Loma's shaded patio.
We drove down to Compestela on Saturday afternoon and spent a couple of hours exploring the downtown area. We were surprised to find so much "business as usual" considering it was the “big weekend.” The drive through the sugar cane fields was great too.
Today we went over to the Feria but alas we were too late. Only the clean up crew was there...Oh well maybe next year. We spent a couple of hours in the park and again we were enchanted and delighted. We've traveled many parts of Mexico and this park is by far our favourite park. I guess, being Easter Sunday made for even more entertainment on top of the regular people watching. Every time I see the “jungle land” for kids I'm so impressed. Why hasn't this idea been imitated somewhere else? I doubt there's a person who grew up in Tepic that doesn't have fond memories of that section of the park. What a place to let your imagination run wild! We also saw, for the first time, an impromptu game comprised of around a hundred young guys and some gals playing what they called internacio(?) It just seemed to start up magically from passer byes. There were concentric circles of people with “safe points” and a person in the middle with a folded belt who would chase someone and try to “wack” them with the belt before they found a safe point. It was hard to figure out the rules but it was very fast and challenging for everyone!
