Hola Sr. Roberto;
Hi, I thought I might give some input to you. First above all things rent first before buying, making sure the climate, the humidity, the noise level, and your neighbors are to your liking.
Cliff's advise is excellent as usual. I only have a few caviats.
Right on the coast is usually 5-10 warmer than up here at around 3000 ft. That's fine until June - Sept. when you might not like that heat. Older people don't take the extremes as well.
You will get hurricane warnings along the coastal waters from time to time and occasionally, like with Kenna in 2002, they become up close and personal...
Next, NO FOREIGNER can own legally within 30 miles of the Ocean here in Mexico, or 40 meters of a navigable waterway or Lake, only a Bank Trust. You pay each and every year for them to guarantee your lot (not your house which usually costs the most to replace). And, the municipality charges you for your "Concession", which some of my friends pay as much as $6000 pesos (this is for right on the beachfront properties).
After a while of living here you will get into the mode of favorite places to go spend 3-4 days at a time. There are so many tresures (cities) to explore you don't have enough years to do it in if you are over 50. So your paradise the first year might not be your paradise few years later after you have seen some of the other treasures!
Enjoy.
Cuyler
