1.) Would it be best to fly into Guadalajara? And then from there should we rent a car? take a bus? a. I would fly into Tepic and rent a car!!! 2.)Is it safe to hike/camp in that area? a. Yes 3.) Is it best to hire a guide? a. Not necessary 4.)What type of lodging other than camping is available in that area? a. I would use Tepic as my home base... 5.) What other similar sites may interest us in the area? a. There are more volcanic lakes in the same general areas like the Laguna at Santa Maria del Oro... 6.) Where can I find information in English about the area...etc. a. Google in the subject 'tour guides to Tepetiltic lake' and scroll down to 'Mexico Handbook-Google Book Results'...Click and Patrick Maher's book will open up to page 532 and information about the area... b.
