Posted by Cliff on 10/14/2007, 6:09 am Hola all you members of the Inner Circle of Adventurers, Wayfarers and Wanderers, Cruising down the river on a Sunday afternoon If you start the day with a little ditty you'll be sittin' pretty...I'm trying to get some satisfaction out of yesterday's college football games and even though USC won, I'm a little wary of where the 'powerhouse' has gone...20-13 0ver Arizona??? Should not have been so close...Sorry Roz but I did get some satisfaction over LSU being beaten by Kentucky as maybe there won't be any undeafeated teams by the end of this year...Cal bit the dust so all of my teams have the stain of defeat now and, if we are to have a shot at the title, we need help from teams like Kentucky and Appalachian State...Did you know that little Santa Clara University in California beat Kentucky in the Orange Bowl in 1950...That was a big deal then when I was a mere 13 years old...I thought I would throw that in a a bit of a filler as all of my help have the day off today...Today will be the last day that I will bring you tidbits from my Grandfather Folsom's gold mine on Discovery on Anvil Creek at Nome, Alaska...All of my life I have used this 'bigger than life' man I spent so much time with as a kid as my role model for what a real pioneer/man was all about...Gramp and John Wayne would have gotten along just fine!!! Today's last picture below is of what it was all about at the mine where dreams became reality including my dear mother...Between 1898 and 1910, these gold fields in Nome yielded over $57 million...A pretty penny back then, mighty pretty...Grandfather's 'field of dreams'!!! I have done a few chores already and have read my Sunday comics and am half-dressed and lookin' as good as it gets...Yes, I have also showered...Alice and I took the easy culinary road yesterday by my goin' to Delichicken and pickin' up a rotisseried chicken, plus half another as a freebie, with grilled dinky sized whole potatoes and some frijoles...It is always delicious and easy and brings smiles along as part of the deal...Dessert was coconut ice cream and it fit the bill to a 'T'...ChaChi and little Luke enjoyed their chicken as well, hand-fed under the table of course... I will soon be over at Vip's and maybe I will meet you there someday for coffee if you are out and about between 7 and 8 in the morning...Lookin' forward to it!!! As the Vera Lynn song goes, 'We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again some sunny day!!! Cheerio all ye blokes and ladies, Cliffardo

...and lovin' it!!!
With one you love, the sun above waiting for the moon
The old accordian playing a sentimental tune
Cruising down the river on a Sunday afternoon
The birds above all sing of love, a gentle sweet refrain
The winds around all make a sound like softly falling rain
Just two of us together, we'll plan a honeymoon
Cruising down the river on a Sunday afternoon...
