Posted by Cliff on 9/25/2007, 6:00 am Ain't a-gonna need this house no longer This ole house is a-gettin' shaky Ain't a-gonna need this house no longer This was the #1 (18 weeks on the charts) song for one week in 1954, the year I flew out of the nest and went northward!!! I was ready to slip those surly bonds of parental servitude and put yardwork out of my mind for the rest of my life...No more ochra and squash and stewed tomatoes and chipped beef and brussel sprouts and liver and cleaning venetian blinds and watching wrestling...I was a full-fledged man of my own and now all I needed to make life livable was a woman home companion...A high school gal in Corvalis, Oregon named Mary Beth was the beginning of this new chapter in my still innocent life...I intended to be a beaver bred and a beaver dead up at Oregon State as the world suddenly was my oyster and, unbeknownst to me, this was also the beginning of my travels to the rest of the world...Next up, Scotland, but that is another story mi amigos... Hola all you fellow travelers, How doest this day find thee??? I hope all is well...I have done the usual chores expected by all who reside in this casa and have also made myself as presentable as possible given the circumstances... Yesterday Alice and I returned to Burger King for our mid-day comida break and had another round of Whopper Combos ala grande!!! Vanilla frosties ended this culinary chapter in the Life and Times of the Anderson Clan SOTB...There's somethin' 'bout a hamburger makes a body want to I will soon be goin' over to Vip's for the morning coffee klatch or klatsch...Come one, come all and we'll have a ball or at least some buttered toast... Cheerio and adios, Cliffardo

This ole house once knew his children
This ole house once knew his wife
This ole house was home and comfort
As they fought the storms of life
This old house once rang with laughter
This old house heard many shouts
Now he trembles in the darkness
When the lightnin' walks about
Ain't a-gonna need this house no more
Ain't got time to fix the shingles
Ain't got time to fix the floor
Ain't got time to oil the hinges
Nor to mend the windowpane
Ain't a-gonna need this house no longer
He's a-gettin' ready to meet the saints
This ole house is a-gettin' old
This ole house lets in the rain
This ole house lets in the cold
Oh his knees are a-gettin' chilly
But he feels no fear of pain
'Cause he see an angel peekin'
Through a broken windowpane
Ain't a-gonna need this house no more
Ain't got time to fix the shingles
Ain't got time to fix the floor
Ain't got time to oil the hinges
Nor to mend the windowpane
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
He's a-gettin' ready to meet the saints...
smile from ear to ear...
