Posted by Alice My biggest concern for your son would be re-entry into the US if he waits until 2008 unless he has a US passport. If he has problems SOTB and his illegal status becomes obvious he will find himself in mucho trouble here including a likely stay in a nasty Mexican jail and, if he is lucky, a less than luxury trip to the US border. Mexican immigration policy is clean, welcoming and very simple. No grey areas anymore. Immigration mordita is largely a thing of the past. Too many Mexicans have brothers in law who didn't make it across the Arizona desert. We haven't heard of anyone 'beating' the tourist visa system. Best plan for tourists entering Mexico is to request a 180 day visa and play by the rules. Best plan for those US citizens with illegal status SOTB is to get your XYZ to the border and be very glad to cross into the US without problems.
