I laughed so hard when I read this article. I'm glad it was just an opinion by the author. No links or footnotes to any fact.
The AstroPlane is a 1/4 wave radiator with a very low angle of radiation. Similar to an elevated quarter wave. The folded radiator can not be added together as some magical longer radiator fooling you to feel like you have a bigger antenna. The current that is measured along the radiating element proves this out as it has a negative effect on the same radiation plane.
I don't think this forum/blog is appropriate to go into the technical details and would be over most heads here.
Just hit the books Marconi and talk to a real RF engineer or at least read something like the ARRL Amateur Radio Handbook. Don't try to save yourself as posing as some imposter. LOL
