Diffrent sugars have differnt properties just as yeast does.
Yes, different combos give diffrent nuances to the flavor, but so can temprature, cooling speed, and a few other tricks of the trade.
Everyone has there favorite recipe, can tell who made what by the taste after u been in it awhile
~ASSUMEING you have the basic understanding of the prosess itself, know how to avoid produceing methanol and reduse odds of Butadienes, Acetaldehydes, Fuzel Oils ect.~
No, nothing inhearenrtly wrong using one sugar, yeast or or combo of 2 or more togeather as well as other "acceptable" ingreadieants.
Diffrent combos may make a slightly stronger or weaker mash and will vary fermentation time.
I suggest sticking to one recipe until you get a consistant return before trying new ones though.
And gratz on your ambition to make biodisel, too damn lazy for that myself, lol. Just trying to pull togeather a VW trike with ele. motor and a 275amp altenator hooked to a 6hp motor to extend my cruseing range
